The documentary career of Santiago Diaz-Vence has been marked by a deep exploration of the territories, communities and realities that have defined Colombia's recent history. Over the years he has directed multiple documentary series and feature films, specializing in stories related to the armed conflict, memory and community resilience. His work has taken him to film in some of the most complex regions of the country, giving visibility to social issues from a close, respectful and deeply human perspective.

His most recent feature film, Por Cielo y Tierra, premiered in more than 30 countries, reached more than one million viewers and became the first Colombian documentary screened at the United States Institute of Peace in Washington D.C. The film was a winner at the Pasto International Film Festival, had a wide run at international festivals and platforms and moved thousands of viewers around the world. He has also been creator and director of acclaimed documentary series for television such as Tierra and Territorio de Ilusiones.

TV SHOWS

In addition to his film work, Santiago Diaz-Vence has established himself as one of the most outstanding documentary and entertainment television directors in Colombia. As director, screenwriter and showrunner, he has led award-winning productions that combine a high narrative level with visually ambitious staging.

In 2022 he won the TAL Award for Best Documentary Series in Latin America for Mesa para Trece, while in 2025 he received the PRODU Award for his work as director on Aventura Gastronómica, a Sony Pictures production. His experience spans from documentary to adventure, gastronomy and travel formats, creating content that balances entertainment, emotion and a strong visual identity.

FILM

In cinema, Santiago Diaz-Vence has developed a body of work that moves between documentary and fiction, with projects that have participated in national and international festivals. His short film Se Murió Humberto premiered at the Cinema Father International Film Festival, where it received an Honorable Mention, consolidating a new stage in his work as a fiction director.

He is currently developing La Rural, his first fiction feature film. The project has been selected in various festivals and development spaces, winning the FRAPA Award for Best Screenplay at the Ibiza International Film Festival. At this time, the film continues its development and financing process with a view to starting production soon.
